In days gone by the old Burgh Council in Kintore would never let the place get into the state it is today.

There will be the usual live music in The Square with Chalmers Mackay Music School bands, Food and Refreshments all day and lots of other stalls and side shows. 


...The opening event will then be the march, led by Kintore Pipe Band &ndash; with the Fancy Dress Competition entrants &ndash; from the public hall to The Square for the judging.

(*As a lover of the quality meat that John Dossett sells from Womblehill, I&rsquo;m not sure about the beasts of Womblehill being disturbed by all that traffic through their fields!)


I can&rsquo;t see it being popular to force all northbound traffic for Kintore (including heavy vehicles for the business park) all the way out to the B994/B997 roundabout Gauchhill before doubling back into the town.

...At 16 Forest Road, Kintore, the caf&eacute; is to open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 9am to 4pm.


In their note to kintore.org.uk, the new operator says: &ldquo;We will be serving made to order pancakes, freshly made scones, homebakes, soups, sandwiches, kids meals, afternoon cream teas & ice cream sundaes, knickerbocker glorys, ice-cream cones, coke floats .....the list goes on & on.&rdquo;

The proposed youth cafe would be 84.2 square metres in area and include a coffee bar, seating areas and internet access points....  With a floor area of 23.7 square metres it would accommodate 25 to 30 people in meeting style.

The hefty tree trunk was snapped and the tree now lies forlornly, complete with lights, across the Town House forecourt.

This morning&rsquo;s flight took the Virgin Balloon over just west of Kintore and then along the Dee Valley to the Inverurie Paper Mill site (which Google are apparently interested in as a Scottish base according to today&rsquo;s Press and Journal) and then on towards Inverurie.

Unmistakable due to its huge wingspan and distinctive &ldquo;swallow tail&rdquo;, the red kite has been seen regularly flying over the fields that border Balbithan Forest.

Clearing rubbish out of an old drawer I came across the instructions for setting up the computer to dial the internet provider using a modem and telephone line.

Stagecoach say they consider it not commercially viable at present.


But, some Kintore residents have urged the company to introduce a Kintore stop, saying it would be particularly useful for people who work at ARI.

...Viewed from afar by a multi-national company, it must be difficult to justify keeping the mill open when labour costs are higher than in countries like India and the Far East.

...It&rsquo;s not as though parking in the centre of Kintore is at a huge premium, so why do they have to park there?


...It&rsquo;s a shame, but maybe the only way to prevent cars parking in front of the Town House is to put in bollards (hopefully attractive ones) to allow us to present the best of Kintore uncluttered by parking.]]></content:encoded></item></channel>
