The red kite, recently re-introduced to Scotland, is looking very much at home in Balbithan Forest above Kintore.
Unmistakable due to its huge wingspan and distinctive “swallow tail”, the red kite has been seen regularly flying over the fields that border Balbithan Forest.
The RSPB began a programme to re-introduced the red kite to Aberdeenshire in 2007.
