Supermarket and filling station proposal

Plans went on show today in Kintore for a new commercial development beside the Broomhill roundabout on the A96, with a supermarket, filling station, hotel, restaurant and offices.

The plans are for the land on the east side of the Broomhill roundabout, south of the road into Kintore. It would adjoin the extension to the business park.

The proposals, prepared by Aberdeen architects Halliday Fraser Munro, also include an alternative junction layout.

The solution put forward by the authorities was to remove the Broomhill roundabout and to provide slip roads to and from Kintore for southbound traffic only.
Northbound traffic heading to Kintore would be diverted by a new link road across Womblehill farmland to join the Kemnay road

Instead, the new plans propose enlarging and modifying the Broomhill roundabout to retain direct access to and from Kintore on both the northbound and southbound carriageways. There would be a new exit on the roundabout to serve the supermarket, filling station, hotel and business development.

We have been promised a plan of the new development which will be posted here as soon as we receive it.
