Kintore Pipe Band
is celebrating its 90th Anniversary with a special event in the town on Saturday, September 24.
Kintore Pipe Band currently has 25 pipers, 15 drummers and two drum majors. It is one of the few bands that has survived and played continuously for 90 years – so the celebration of this important part of Kintore’s heritage is important for the town.
As one of the most popular pipe bands it takes the name of the Royal Burgh of Kintore not just around the country but as far afield as the Czech republic and Belgium. A contingent from the Band have also played in New York, Italy and the Pipe Major recently played in Kazakhstan.
The celebrations will start at Kintore Public Hall at 2pm, where there will be a display of photographs and Memorabilia. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Refreshments will be available.
There will be band performances in The Square, Kintore at 2.30pm, 4pm and a Beating the Retreat at 7pm.
Kintore Pipe Band’s 90th Anniversary CD will be available on the day at £8.00.
