Major expansion plan unveiled for Kintore

Plans are to be unveiled for a major expansion of Kintore to the east of the town, with housing, community facilities, new schools and a new park focussed on Tuach Hill.

The proposals will be presented to the public at an exhibition on Saturday, February 12 from 11am to 5pm in Kintore Public Hall.

The plans for Kintore East are being put forward by a consortium of three builders – Kirkwood Homes Ltd, Malcolm Allan Housebuilders and Barratt East Scotland – under the name of the Kintore Consortium.

Are the builders coming back to Kintore?

The consortium says it has been promoting land to the east of Kintore for future development through the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan (LDP) process since 2008.

In the announcement of the public exhibition, the consortium says:

“Given the positive feedback received through the LDP process and directly from the local community, it is the Consortiums intention to submit an application for Planning Permission in Principle for the site in the next few months.

“The Consortium’s vision is to implement a long-term, sustainable expansion of Kintore over the next 10-15 years, creating a mixed-use development that enriches and complements the town, providing key community infrastructure including land for new primary and secondary schools, a new Park focussed on Tuach Hill, community facilities, employment land and a wide range of housing opportunities for Kintore.”
