New garage plan for Broomhill

Plans have been for a new car sales showroom and workshop on land adjacent to the Broomhill Roundabout at Kintore.

Acting on behalf of local family business C&M McDonald, the Knight Frank has lodged an application for full planning permission with Aberdeenshire Council for the new building on the land adjacent to the Broomhill Roundabout at Bridgefield, Kintore.

The proposed development comprises a garage, MOT test centre and car showroom with an external car display area at the front of the building.

The existing building on site is to be converted into the new MOT test centre, with a steel-framed extension being built at the rear to house the main workshop area. A curved wrap-around extension is proposed at the front of the building to house the car showroom and covered car sales area.

The showroom has been designed by Westhill-based architects McAdam Design to provide a contemporary extension that wraps around the existing building to give the site an attractive frontage.

Gary Purves, planner with Knight Frank said: "C&M McDonald is a successful family-run local business which has outgrown its current premises in Oldmeldrum. The new premises will enable the business to grow to meet its customers' needs and take on extra staff. The development will bring benefits to the local community such as creating local employment opportunities and redeveloping a brownfield site to enhance the main entrance into Kintore through the innovative design of the building."

The plans are currently being considered by Aberdeenshire Council with a decision expected later this year.
