Dave Chouman the architect and Steven Laing the builder recently confirmed the start date for building the foundations of The Bothie as being late April (now, late June), weather permitting.
Thereafter, work on the building itself will continue through this year until completion and it is the intention for Youth Forum members to be involved in the actual building process, particularly the straw bale sections.
Significant funding is in place and Action Kintore and the Youth Forum gratefully acknowledge the financial support already given by Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd and also that pledged by the Scottish Government and the European Community Rural Aberdeenshire LEADER Programme (2007-2013) and Aberdeenshire Council. Contributions from local sources add to the funding package.
Five volunteers recently took part in Youth Worker training offered by Aberdeenshire Council. Further training sessions will be arranged, when the need is identified.
To fully explain the entire Bothie project, a Public Meeting will take place in Kintore School on 25 March, starting at 7pm. It is hoped there will be a good turnout of Kintore residents, to hear more about this exciting project and consider how they may wish to get involved, or support the project in any way.
