The Bothie project potentially back on track

Following the poor attendance at the public meeting this spring, we reported in May that The Bothie project to create a youth cafe in the centre of Kintore, had been cancelled.

Following the Action Kintore AGM the project is now potentially back on track.

At the AGM on May 19 there was unanimous support for continuing The Bothie project and – at a volunteers meeting in July – a number of very enthusiastic people turned up.

The big issue faced by Action Kintore is project costs and how to bring them within the budget. If the costs can't be brought down, the building work can’t proceed.

Another significant development is the recruitment by Action Kintore of Youth Development worker Kelly Sinclair. Her first contributions were at the July meeting, where her organisational and people skills were evident.

“As we have said, community support for this project is vital,” says Kenny Thomson, Director of Action Kintore, “and volunteers for the many and varied tasks associated with the build, running the building and general youth work will always be welcome.”

Kelly Sinclair can be contacted on 07842 265814.
