NewsKintore-based radio station NECR has announced that it is to close with its final broadcast being tonight (Wednesday, August 15).
North East Community Radio began in 1994, latterly broadcast from what it called “a shed” attached to this house on School Road, Kintore. Previously it had broadcast from the Town House, in The Square, Kintore.

Although based in Kintore, the station had a network of transmitters to give it a broadcast range covering much of the North East of Scotland.
Recently a “For Sale” sign appeared in front of the house.
The station told the BBC that closure was due to adverse trading conditions and local businesses moving their advertising from radio to the internet.
