Do you know of the Shakin' Bridge?

NewsThe Institution of Civil Engineers have been in contact to say they have a postcard in their collection of a “Shakin’ Bridge, Kintore”. Can any of our website users shed any light on it?

From the look of the postcard photo, it looks like a fairly substantial river that it is crossing, which would suggest the River Don. Was the ‘Shakin’ Bridge” the predecessor to the original vehicle bridge at Boat of Kintore?
If you know anything about this bridge, please get in touch and we will let the Institution of Civil Engineers know.
You can use the comment facility on this page, you can post a comment on the Kintore Facebook page post, or you can email editor@kintore.org.uk.
FOOTNOTE: The general consensus seems to be that the “Shakin’ Bridge’” was a pedestrian bridge from Castlehill in Kintore across to Balbithan Island in the River Don. It was replaced, many years ago, by a vehicle bridge to allow agricultural vehicles to reach the island.
