A96 dualling consultation

A series of consultation events is taking place into the Scottish Government’s plan to complete the dualling of the A96 trunk road from Aberdeen to Inverness by 2030. Of course, the section of the A96 from Aberdeen to the Port Elphinstone roundabout at Inverurie is already dual carriageway, but from there onwards, the road is mainly single carriageway.

A big issue will be how the new dual carriageway passes Inverurie as the current A96 by-pass now buildings so close to the carriageway that it seems probable that a new by-pass route will have to be found.

You can find out more about the plans to dual the entire 104-mile route at a public exhibition in the Leys Hotel, Blackburn on Wednesday, May 20 and the Kintore Arms Hotel in Inverurie on May 21. The exhibitions are open from 12 noon to 7pm.

The first £30 million contract for the section from Inverness to Nairn was recently awarded.
