A planning application has been submitted to Aberdeenshire Council
for the conversion of the Kintore Arms Inn to split the existing building into two units selling food and drink.
The plans show Unit A occupying the north section of the existing building, including what was the bar. Unit B incorporates the rooms on either side of the inn’s front steps with the internal accesses to Unit A being blocked off.
The planning application is for Class 3 Food and Drink. This is defined as “Restaurant, cafe, snack bar (use for sale of food or drink on the premises)”.
The plans have been submitted in the name of Cater Corporation Ltd of Springbank Terrace, Aberdeen, but a search of the web comes up with its registered office being 13 Elphinstone Road, Port Elphinstone – the same address as Chop Chop Express.
In the current application, no external alterations are proposed to the building, which dates back to the early 19th century and forms part of The Square, in the centre of Kintore. The application says that the rooms to let on the upper floors will remain.
