Improvements to The Square

Aberdeenshire Council has submitted proposals for environmental improvements around the 18th century Town House in the The Square, Kintore.

The council are proposing the replacement of the bitmac surface surrounding the Town House. This will be replaced with Caithness stone slabs and granite cubes around the perimeter. The existing granite setts to the east would be replaced with flame textured sets. This is said to be similar to recent improvements in Huntly Square and Old Meldrum town centre.

In the submission to planning, the council say they intend to retain existing mature trees on the site.

The planned improvements include reconnection of the granite fountain and repair to the granite top. New lighting is also proposed.

Also planned is the replacement of bollards and installation of three traditional benches to replace the contemporary benches on the site.

On the Town House itself the council is proposing to repair a number of the granite steps on the double staircase to the council chamber.
