At today’s Aberdeenshire Council meeting councillors referred the Gateway Kintore development to the Infrastructure Services Committee with a view to including it in the new Local Development Plan which will come into force in 2016.
The Gateway Kintore master plan will now be subjected to a number of assessments, including retail impact and traffic. Depending on the outcome, the development will go forward to go in the new local plan.
“It is clear that councillors have listened to the considerable support that has been demonstrated for Gateway Kintore through the petition and the representations,” said a spokesman for Gateway Kintore.
“We now look forward to providing the council with the information they need to carry out their assessments and, given a positive outcome, we will be pushing to provide Kintore and other local communities with the facilities of a supermarket, filling station, hotel, restaurants and an upgraded Broomhill roundabout at the earliest opportunity.
“We would also like to thank all the people from Kintore, Kemnay, Blackburn, Fintray and other Garioch communities for supporting us through the petition and also those who submitted representations for Gateway Kintore to be included in the local plan.”
If Gateway Kintore is included in the new local plan, a planning application could be submitted to the council as soon as the new plan comes into effect, in 2016.
