Rapid progress by Kintore youth project

Building of The Bothie in Kintore started two weeks ago. Settled weather has allowed the foundations and walls to be completed to floor level, as shown in the photograph.

The Bothie Kintore

Kenny Thomson, from the support group Action Kintore said:

“The Bothie will create a fantastic opportunity for young people to meet with friends and learn new skills. A Youth Development Worker, along with two youth workers employed by the Council will manage activities, but volunteers are urgently required to assist in a variety of roles.

“For example, one person has already volunteered to speak with school leavers about employment opportunities in the oil industry”

Beth Low, who has been a member of Kintore Youth Forum for many years said:
“it's really exciting to see The Bothie taking shape at last"

Action Kintore is a Limited Company which exists solely to promote the provision of youth facilities within the town and its members have worked hard with youngsters from Kintore Youth Forum, officials from Aberdeenshire Council and others, to secure the finances necessary to build the facility.

If you would like to help in any way, please contact Kevin Watt on 07729 909447.

The building is expected to be completed by mid September.
