Transport Minister Keith Brown has announced that Kintore will have a station again, 50 years after it was closed in the era of ill-considered rail closures.
The new station should be open between 2014 and 2019 – five to ten years after the date mooted by NESTRANS
Kintore station was closed in the 1960s after around 100 years of service to the town.
The railway from Aberdeen to Inverurie opened in 1854, built on the line of the ill-fated Aberdeenshire Canal, which had opened in 1805. The canal ran from Aberdeen to Port Elphinstone.
