Minutes of meeting May 18, 2009

Approval of Minutes Minutes of last meeting held 20th April 2009 were approved. Moved by Ann Marston, seconded by Graham McDonald
Matters arising from Minutes Howieslap Football Pitches Children were at pitch lifting litter and generally tidying up. Cllr. Ann Cullinane is looking at getting a bin for the area.
The Hub: The date for the opening of the Local Hub is 13th June at 11.00am. Graham is looking into the safety issues and may consider barriers Graham has asked for volunteers to help at the opening and also for suggestions re a well known figure to open the Hub. A cheque for £500 was handed over to Graham from the Community Council.
Planning: Donald Russell’s boundary fence: (GH) Has put an objection in via website. Historic Scotland have also put objection.
Rail Halt: This is an on-going project, with a site identified (G40 in the recently received list of Developers Proposals). There have been flooding problems there and so it isn’t suitable for building. Cllr Ford reported the Halt may be provided sooner than expected, as an official announcement re Kintore had been made at the very recent re-opening of the Laurencekirk Station.
A Council arranged meeting will be held on the 4th June at Kintore Primary School in the Assembly Hall at 7.00pm when everyone has been urged to attend. The Main Issues Report will be the topic. Copies will be available soon and GH/KT to consider issues. There may be time to arrange another KDCC meeting, but timescale short.
Town Park: The original plan for a Town Park has been greatly reduced by the developers (from 4.5 to 3.6 hectares). It is also of concern that you would have to go through a housing estate to get to the Town |Park. A letter of Objection has been sent by KDCC.
Safelift of School Road): On-going
Action Kintore A note was circulated to everyone regarding Action Kintore. Basically, now waiting the outcome of a Planning Application for the old Library site.
4 Treasurer’s Report Joan Thomson Joan is now Treasurer and reported that we have £1,905.29 presently in our account. All monies held on behalf of Action Kintore have been transferred to AKs Account.
5 Reports PC Darren Cochrane Apologies I cannot attend as I am now on Annual Leave until mid June.
Crime files raised by Grampian Police since 20th April 2009 regarding the Kintore and District Community Council area:
Road Traffic 5 Vandalism 2 Assault 2 Theft 1 Annoying texts 1 Total 11 Members queried the figure of 5 Road Traffic incidents (locations..By Pass?) and would appreciate a breakdown of these and perhaps other figures in the future.

AOCB Senior Citizen Outing The outing is provisionally booked for 6th August. Going to Gordon Arms, Huntly for a meal and a visit to Glen Moray Distillery. Graham kindly said that a percentage of the Local Hub takings (from the opening on 13 June) shall go towards the cost, if KDCC members assisted on the day. This would negate the need for a KDCC stall at KSF.
Pipe Band Kintore Pipe Band trip to Italy – There is some doubt as to whether this will go ahead. Will hear in due course.
Common Good Fund Common Good Fund: Graham McDonald agreed to contact Ian Fowell – Garioch Area Manager and ask how much is in fund.
Road conditions The road outside Sheila Gray’s house has still to be repaired despite several requests by Cllr. Hood.
Sponsor Walk Lairig Ghru Sponsor Walk on 24th May 2009: Drew Cullinane said that 23 are taking part however more volunteers can still get a sponsorship form from Drew. The Community Council wished Drew and everyone success.
Garden Comp. Sheila Gray asked about the Gardening Competition. Ann Marston and others to explore the possibility of arranging one for this year.
Midmill Isobel Stirling asked about road widening at Midmill. No one had any knowledge, but the matter will be looked into.
Toilets Kenny reported having received a letter from a member of the public re Public Toilets, in which reference was made to a Comfort Partnership scheme formed through the Council. Cllr Ford outlined the scheme, which entails local shops/pubs etc providing Public Toilet facilities, with those taking part entitled to £2k. (GMcK) expressed an interest re the Hub and will contact Bill Cassie – Gordon House for further details.
Roundabouts The issue of the state of roundabouts (overgrown with weeds etc.) on approaches to Kintore was raised. Cllr Hood agreed to look into this.
With no further business the meeting was closed at 9.15pm. Next meeting: 7.00pm on Monday 15th June 2009 in Room 111 at Kintore School. Kenny and Joan Thomson gave advance Apologies for Absence, due to holidays.
