...However, in the meantime the Planning Service has no alternative but to resist new development in Kintore which would have serious implications for primary and pre-school provision until such time as additional capacity can be provided, most likely through the provision of an additional school.


Aberdeenshire Council appreciates that this could lead to a situation where development proposals in and around Kintore, which in many cases may be able to bring other community benefits to Kintore and the wider area, eg the town park, will have to be held in abeyance meantime.

...The main and overwhelming messages from the public was that (a) there should be no more houses built in Kintore and certainly not until the town recovers from the debacle of the last housing boom, when the community facilities promised as part of the planning and development process simply failed to materialise and (b) there should be no intrusion of any form of development onto the slopes on Tuach Hill which face onto the town.

...The Development Brief outlined that a large area of public open space of at least 4.5ha and the woodland area was required within Kintore to provide a valuable community facility that would have the potential to encourage a wide range of recreational facilities that would require the input of the local community to ensure satisfactory development of these. 


...With Aberdeenshire Council&rsquo;s initial Secondary School location proposal at Midmill currently in the process of being developed as housing, the only other ideal site that could provide suitable access to other communities and accommodate a Secondary School with associated playing fields would be this site.

It is a hefty document, but only part of it relates to Kintore, although it is important to be aware of the early content of the document which covers the objectives, settlement strategy and the main policies issues.


The Public Workshop for the Kintore area will take place in Kintore Primary School on Thursday 4 June, starting at 7pm and it is vital that members of the community attend, become familiar with what is planned for the future of Kintore and get involved in the debate.

...Kintore residents continue to make contact with KDCC on a range of local issues and in trying to address these, I have been impressed by the support given to the Community Council by Constable Darren Cochrane and Councillors Cullinane, Ford and Hood, who invariably attend meetings and give of their experience, enthusiastically contribute to the debate and provide the link through which contact can be made with Council Officials, notably Ian Fowell and Ian Rendall, who are also keen to assist if possible.


...I am continually impressed by the work undertaken by public spirited individuals within the community; those who manage Kintore Boys Club and Kintore United FC, who have a combined total of some 150 boys and girls of various ages in their football teams; the organisers of the Kintore Summer Festival; members of Kintore Rotary Club who contribute financially and practically to the work of other organisations and many others within the community too numerous to mention, but including leaders of the Scouts, Boys Brigade, and the Church and Golf Club youth set-ups.
