Councillor Hood and Ford gave an update on the primary school facilities situation and a report is due to come to area committee during March.

...2)	Last winter buses were absolutely freezing cold inside and when complaints were made by members of the public they were told it was because of  the doors opening at stops for passengers to get on and off.

...Councillor Hood suggested that for next year it may be an idea to get 4 or 5 people take cars instead of hiring a bus if the numbers remain so low.

...Sheila voiced concern about the state of the trees around Priscilla&rsquo;s garden wall on Forest Road as she believes they require to be topped back before autumn when the leaves fall can be dangerous  when lying wet on the pavement. ...She informed the Meeting that it seems impossible to find out who actually owns the ground and that even if the owner was identified the Council cannot enforce anyone to tidy up a piece of ground.


...A suggestion was made as to whether KDCC should take on the maintenance but Graham said it is not a KDCC matter and if KDCC took it on then it may be that KDCC are expected to maintain any untidy or overgrown areas within Kintore.

...The Meeting was informed by Graham that the Hub in Kintore is seen as a shining example and Graham is to do a presentation to Fraserburgh Community Council who are to visit the Hub next week.                                   


...However Councillor Cullinane said that to her knowledge it was not working but there had been some tests carried out and some visible white smoke and that perhaps this had been what Sheila&rsquo;s friends had smelt.

...He stressed that more volunteers are needed as well as a Manager as Graham himself no longer has the time to dedicate to the running of the Hub due to work commitments.

...Sheila, Linda, Lesley and Councillor Hood all said the thing that most people object to regarding Gypsy/Travelling People is the horrendous mess they leave behind with rubbish being left by the roadside and in some cases even pieces of furniture being left and becoming an eyesore on private sites and it is left to the Council to clean up . 

...Councillor Ford told the Meeting of efficiency savings which have to be made and therefore could result in cuts in services as there would be a lower budget for the likes of street lighting, pavement maintenance, grass cutting, classroom assistants and library opening hours.

...Smell from Knackery: Councillor Hood informed the Meeting that he had spoken with Katherine Brierly from SEPA who stated that Councillor Hood would be notified prior to the opening of the premises.

...Cruickshank told the Meeting that he spoke with some youths after attending last month&rsquo;s Meeting to gauge their thoughts on the Hub as a facility for them and he reported that they told him that it was &ldquo;not attractive&rdquo; to them.


...Alan Rae of Frank Knight tried to contact Kenny (but he was on holiday) regarding Hamish McDonald&rsquo;s proposed plans but it was too late to submit our support but KDCC will do this during the period of consultation.

...In addition from the same Kintore resident a request that the &ldquo;white van&rdquo; which is usually parked permanently at the bus stop between Castle Walk and Nicol Road be advised to park his van in such a position that passengers waiting at the bus stop can see the bus coming and likewise the bus drivers are able to see them.

...Mrs McDonald stated that the &pound;290 cost would be met by C & M McDonald and Kenny will meet with them to finalise some issues, prior to the Plans being submitted for Planning Permission.


The proposed Town Park will be an important development for Kintore residents and Graham raised it again, but Councillors reported that the Planning Application had not yet appeared on the Agenda of a Planning Committee Meeting.

...Having heard the presentation, concerns were expressed by Community Councillors and KOSI members relative to (a) the encroachment of building on the slopes of Tuach Hill, the protection of this area being regarded as vitally important by the 200 members of the public who attended a Public Meeting held on 1 July last year (b) the possibility of this new development exacerbating the flooding problems in the lower Kingsfield Road area (c) the impact that such a massive development would have on traffic at the east side of the town and the A96 Trunk Road and (d) the need for Kintore to be afforded time to recover from the devastation created by the last housing boom, which left the town with an insufficiency of community facilities to meet the needs and aspirations of an vastly increased population, comprising both indigenous and newcomers.
